- ➤ On Jan. 16, more than 100 Utica Community Schools students visited Sterling Heights Fire Department Station No. 5 to learn about firefighting careers. - ➤ Sterling Heights City Council scheduled a public hearing on the Sheetz proposal for March 3 at 7 p.m. at City Hall; the plan calls for a gas station/convenience store on three acres at Mound Road and Metro Parkway, estimated at $10 million with 35 jobs but facing local opposition. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Bitter temperatures in metro Detroit today cause wind chills to feel as low as -20°F and raise the risk of frostbite in 10 minutes in colder parts up north, leaving residents vulnerable.
