ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Michigan rose by six cents since last week to an average of $3.09 per gallon—27 cents lower than at this time last year. In metro Detroit, prices dropped to $3.06 per gallon, down five cents from last week yet 37 cents lower than last year.  WXYZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Recent college grads in metro Detroit are struggling to find full-time jobs in their fields and facing mental health challenges as long-term joblessness wears on. Some are starting new projects to offer gig work and keep hope alive for a better future.  WXYZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel submitted his $1.1 billion recommended fiscal year 2026 budget to the Board of Commissioners, which includes resourceful compensation increases for employees and funds to modernize county facilities—he will present the budget at the Finance/Audit/Budget Committee meeting on Monday at 3 p.m.  The Detroit News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Detroit Red Wings announced their TV schedule for the 2025-26 season today — featuring the return of Trevor Thompson along with Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond — and have added new roles such as rink-side reporters and a director of analytics to mark 100 years of Hockeytown.  WXYZ
  • Fifth Third stated that Comerica Park's name (a longstanding symbol for Tigers fans) may not change as it finalizes its $10.9 billion acquisition of Comerica Bank, and new signage has been installed (ahead of the Tigers' season opener on April 4).  WXYZ
  • After spending 313 days in the hospital waiting for a heart and liver transplant (a life-changing procedure), lifelong Tigers fan Alex Castonguay will attend Game 3 of the ALDS at Comerica Park today with his wife (Christina) to mark his recovery and renewed passion for his team.  WXYZ
