  • Metro Detroit residents are planning their holiday spending carefully as rising prices and tariffs drive a wait-and-see attitude—Gen Z plans to cut back 23% while some Baby Boomers say they will spend the same amount. Experts warn that higher future prices and job concerns could continue to squeeze budgets for the November to January season.  WXYZ

  • Michigan lawmakers have not agreed on a budget and a shutdown is possible on Oct. 1—state offices and parks may close, which would delay services for residents. State leaders are planning backup steps and urging compromise to avoid widespread disruption.  WXYZ
