- ➤ Automotive analyst John McElroy said rising car prices are due to tariffs and added features — he expects the average cost will soon pass $50,000. Local buyers have noticed fewer discounts at dealerships as sticker shock grows. WXYZ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller unveiled the renovated Chapaton Canal in St. Clair Shores on Tuesday, and the project expanded its capacity from 3 million gallons to 20 million gallons. The expansion—funded by American Rescue Plan funds, state allocations, and drainage district funds—will cut combined sewer overflows from Eastpointe and much of St. Clair Shores to reduce Lake St. Clair discharges. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Michigan lawmakers proposed a bill called House Bill 4938 — the Anticorruption of Public Morals Act — that would ban all forms of porn to protect children. If it becomes law, violators could face prison time or heavy fines while the bill is under review by the Committee on Judiciary. FOX 2 Detroit
- ➤ Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is urging lawmakers to pass a state budget to prevent a government shutdown that could lead to layoffs and cuts in funding for schools, roads, and public safety. Lawmakers expect to reach an agreement within the next 14 days — a deal that is needed before the fiscal year starts on October 1. WXYZ

- ➤ Wayne County Health Division reported the county's first death from West Nile Virus in 2025—an older adult with underlying health conditions from outside Detroit—and urged residents to use insect repellent and drain standing water for protection. WXYZ
