COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Ford dealerships across metro Detroit are hosting a food drive from Sept. 15 to 25 to collect over 20,000 pounds of food for Forgotten Harvest to help local families facing hunger. Brian Godfrey said donated items will go to community pantries + donors bringing at least 10 items will receive a free Detroit Lions Jared Goff poster.  WXYZ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Michigan fell 13 cents this week to $3.05 per gallon while metro Detroit's price dropped nine cents to $3.17 from last week. The American Automobile Association said drivers now pay about $45 for a full 15-gallon tank — a $12 decrease from last year's high.  WXYZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Members of the Warren Consolidated Schools Board began filling a vacancy after Board Treasurer Kyle M. Johnson resigned on Sept. 2 for a job with Sen. Elissa Slotkin — applications closed on Sept. 9 and the board will hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Administration Building in Warren with interviews on Oct. 1 before selecting a new board member by Oct. 2. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Macomb County’s top criminal lawyer Peter Lucido has dismissed the remaining counts of his lawsuit against chief civil lawyer John Schapka+ the court ruled the dismissal is with prejudice, preventing any chance to refile after Lucido sought relief from the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission.  The Detroit News
  • Sterling Heights is partnering with the Suburban Mobility Authority and Creative Outdoor Advertising to launch a pilot program that will improve 35 to 40 bus stops along SMART’s fixed routes in the city. The new upgrades will have ADA-compliant features and public service ads and are planned for installation by spring 2026—providing a safer start for transit users.  Sterling Heights Sentry

  • During Sunday's victory over the Bears, Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown scored his third touchdown before jumping into the stands with quarterback Jared Goff in the Raznick family's Lions Leap Zone—delighting young fans including nine-year-old Aria Raznick and her brother. This playful moment, part of a longstanding family tradition, quickly became a viral highlight of the game.  WXYZ
