  • Eight men from Metro Detroit were indicted for an international auto theft ring that packed stolen high-end vehicles into shipping containers for overseas transport — the indictment alleges involvement in a scheme covering 400 vehicles worth over $40 million amid ongoing multiagency investigations.  FOX 2 Detroit
  • A Detroit man, Angelo Rickey Smith (21), who fled Sterling Heights police in a stolen Jeep in April 2021 and ran a red light that killed a 20-year-old woman, was sentenced (8:30 a.m.) Thursday after pleading no contest to homicide and other charges.  FOX 2 Detroit
  • Mark Newsome, 55, was sentenced to 5–15 years in prison by a Macomb County Circuit Court Judge for pleading no contest to manslaughter in the killing of his group home roommate Dale Francis Mitchell, 72, at a Roseville group home on Jan. 31, 2024.  The Detroit News
