  • Three Macomb County residents pleaded guilty Aug. 26 to fraud in a $3 million Paycheck Protection Program scheme that misused false payroll, bank, and tax records—sentencing is set for early 2026 with each defendant facing up to 30 years in prison.  Sterling Heights Sentry

  • Bell Media-owned 89X returned to Detroit airwaves two days ago after five years as a country station by reviving its alternative rock format at 8:08 a.m. Thursday with 'Stop!' by Jane's Addiction—marking the station's fresh start.  FOX 2 Detroit

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A shipping loophole—called the De Minimis Exemption—that let packages under $800 enter duty-free ended just after midnight, so customs now checks every package and costs may rise. Local shoppers say the change will slow deliveries and could push up prices when buying online from retailers like Shein, Temu, and Amazon.  WXYZ
