- ➤ WXYZ-TV and TV20 Detroit will start the If You Give A Child A Book campaign on Wednesday, September 3 to deliver 10 new books to each student at partner schools across metro Detroit—supported by matching donations up to $200,000. WXYZ
- ➤ Bommarito Bakery, which has served authentic Italian treats since 1925, receives a historic marker at its St. Clair Shores location to honor 100 years of family tradition. The family-owned bakery says it will continue using its original recipes and plans to pass the business on to the next generation—ensuring it remains a local staple. WXYZ
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 41-year-old man from Grosse Pointe Park died after touching a power line while working on a lift on Aug. 25 in Sterling Heights. Emergency responders arrived at about 2:30 p.m. (first attempting aid) before transporting him to a hospital (where he was pronounced dead). Sterling Heights Sentry
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MDOT announced that as part of the I-75 resurfacing project in northern Oakland County, ramp closures from southbound I-75 to M-15 will begin at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, redirecting traffic via Sashabaw Road and Waldon Road—additional lane reductions on southbound I-75 from Saginaw Road to Belford Road will start at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 5 and continue until late fall.
