CRIME NEWS

  • Border Patrol agents arrested a 30 year old Venezuelan man identified as a Tren de Aragua gang member during a Shelby Township traffic stop on Wednesday—he was found to be in the country illegally along with two other Venezuelan nationals and has a record of charges for firearms violations, immigration violations and violent robbery.  The Detroit News
  • Sterling Heights Police and Michigan State Police rescued a man with dementia after a 10-hour search that ended Friday, July 25 in a wooded area of Dodge Park—officers spotted him using aerial support and carried him along a nearby pathway to the hospital, where he is expected to make a full recovery.  WXYZ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Heavy rainfall on Monday flooded roads and yards across metro Detroit and in Sterling Heights, leading to travel delays and several closed intersections. In Sterling Heights, city hall saw water invade its lower levels and nearly 10 stalled cars required towing as officials cleared the floodwaters.  WXYZ
