  • Forgotten Harvest Farm covers more than 95 acres and grows fresh produce for metro Detroit families in need. Farm Manager Mike Yancho said six paid workers and 2500 volunteers help harvest the crops and now use extra fencing—put in place to keep deer away—to protect the food supply.  WXYZ
  • Forgotten Harvest operates mobile markets across metro Detroit to help residents who face food insecurity and lack transportation to grocery stores. The mobile market recently stopped at LA SED in Southwest Detroit — donations support its two fully operational trailers and ongoing outreach efforts.  WXYZ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Macomb County community rallied around Debra Neff as her 15-year-old son, Keegan Lee Neff, remains in critical condition at Detroit Children’s Hospital of Michigan after being hit by a vehicle last Wednesday — neighbors have organized fundraisers including a dine-to-donate night and a spaghetti dinner to help with his mounting medical expenses.  WXYZ

  • Police said a mother of four nearly turning 28 was found dead at Lakeside Park Apartments over the weekend and suspect Terrance Lamar Bowie appeared Tuesday on second-degree murder and evidence tampering charges—he was set with a $2 million bond.  FOX 2 Detroit

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On July 9, the Macomb Township Board of Trustees voted to send a notice of default to Priority Waste—its service problems have lasted over a year and many residents have reported missed pickups.
