Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 6th of July.
Good morning, Sterling Heights.
On July 1, Sterling Heights resident Lisa Durie met with a financial adviser and was surprised when Kaizen Financial Inc.—in partnership with the Gradient Gives Back Foundation—gifted her $24,000 to cover her mortgage payments for a year.
Durie, who lost her daughter to cancer, said the assistance would bring stability and peace of mind to her family.
Sterling Heights is moving forward with three major projects—an expansion at Forum at Gateways on Mound Road that will add new retail tenants, a $13 million Corewell Health outpatient facility on Dequindre Road expected to create 25 to 30 jobs, and a conversion of the former Comcast building on Van Dyke Avenue into a 100,000-square-foot trade school campus. City planner Jake Parcell said the developments fill long-vacant buildings and aim to boost local economic growth.
