Good morning, Sterling Heights.

A 77-year-old Troy woman died on June 18 after a head-on collision on Rochester Road near Hickory Lawn Street in Rochester Hills when a 31-year-old driver from Lincoln Park crossed the center line just after 4 p.m. on June 15, injuring her 15-year-old granddaughter and two children—who were taken to the hospital—and police said drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors.

The City of Sterling Heights and Connect Macomb have opened online nominations for the 10th annual Sterling Edge Awards with forms due Friday, July 18.

The awards will be presented at the State of the City breakfast inside the shuttered Lakeside Mall on Friday, Sept. 12—its final chance for public visits before redevelopment begins.

Sterling Heights unveiled new public art at the library—literary-themed pillars by Tatum Lorway and a book-shaped bench by Wendy Popko—with additional pieces like Anthony Lee’s 'Magic Wonder Safari' now on display around the city.
