  • Event organizers are adding cooling measures such as extra water and fans—Sterling Heights' American Polish Festival will offer cooling stations along its grounds as temperatures rise. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On June 17 on 15 Mile Road east of Ryan Road, a collision occurred when a Dodge Journey exited a private drive and turned left, causing a motorcycle to strike it—resulting in the death of a 22-year-old motorcyclist and minor injuries to the Dodge driver as police closed the road for several hours.  Sterling Heights Sentry

  • A federal agency has warned Sterling Heights residents about remote job scams that send texts promising high pay & flexible hours, urging people not to share personal or banking information as scammers try to steal funds.  WXYZ

  • DTE urged metro Detroit customers to conserve energy as extreme heat with indices above 100 will stress the grid from Sunday to Tuesday, so residents are advised to raise thermostats and use energy-saving practices to reduce both consumption & lower bills.  WXYZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Sterling Heights City Council approved two road resurfacing projects at its June 17 meeting—one for 17 Mile Road between Mound Road and Van Dyke that will start in July and finish by the end of October, and one for Dobry Drive from Ryan Road east near AMC 30 that will begin in July and finish by Labor Day. The 17 Mile project will cost the city $911,293 while the Dobry Drive project was awarded to Asphalt Specialists for $818,127.  Sterling Heights Sentry
