- ➤ Richland driver Courtney Ellise Niezgoda, aged 28, was sentenced to eight months in jail and three years of probation after she ran a red light while using her cellphone and GPS in February 2024, causing a crash at the 32 Mile—M-53 intersection that killed Macomb resident Tina Yaney. The Detroit News
- ➤ Macomb County prosecutors will no longer offer plea deals in fleeing police cases after a surge in dangerous crashes, including one where a suspect's high-speed chase resulted in the death of 71-year-old Wendy Drew+ they plan to work with lawmakers to make fleeing laws tougher. The Detroit News
