Good morning, Sterling Heights.

Kim Walton served as Sterling Heights' animal control officer for over 10 years until retiring in 2023 and now operates Compassionate Critter Removal to safely relocate wildlife.

She uses humane methods to handle critters (like squirrels and raccoons) and works with local wildlife rehabilitators to help them settle into new areas.

Sterling Heights City Council passed its first Comprehensive Transportation Safety Action Plan on March 17 to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2050 — the plan includes measures such as speed cushions, mini roundabouts, and reforested streets — and residents are encouraged to submit their concerns through a Traffic Calming Request Form.

State police, sheriff deputies and local police agencies including Sterling Heights used unmarked vehicles over the weekend in Operation Ghost Rider to crack down on distracted driving and help lower crashes in metro Detroit.
