CULTURE NEWS

  • Record Store Day took place April 12 when music fans visited shops across Metro Detroit to purchase exclusive vinyl and limited edition releases. Village Vinyl in Sterling Heights saw over 200 customers waiting outside while store owners noted a mix of popular artists—Taylor Swift, Post Malone and others drove interest in the event.  Sterling Heights Sentry
  • About 20 seniors in the Heart of the Hills Players rehearsed parts from the musical 9 to 5 in the First United Methodist Church basement in Troy as they built community through theater. They will perform 9 to 5 at Anita’s Elite Dance Studio, 37360 Van Dyke Ave., in Sterling Heights at 7 p.m. on April 25th and April 26th and at 2 p.m. on April 27th.  Sterling Heights Sentry

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Michigan dropped by 15 cents from last week and drivers now pay an average of $3.08 per gallon; this cost is 8 cents higher than last month but 62 cents lower than last year. Metro Detroit saw an 11-cent drop and remains one of the priciest areas to fill up—drivers in places like Traverse City pay less.  WXYZ
