Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 12th of April.
Good morning, Sterling Heights.
Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller called on the Michigan Department of the Environment, Great Lakes and Energy to enforce inspections and add level sensors to Oakland County’s sewer systems after heavy rains on April 2nd—3rd caused 1.2 million gallons of raw sewage to enter Red Run Drain. She asked state regulators to act promptly to prevent further pollution in local waterways.
Sterling Heights officials have proposed a $318 million budget for the next fiscal year with a 17.5323 mills rate (one of the lowest in Macomb County) that is about 9% higher than last year's final numbers (covering parks, safety, and road work).
A second budget hearing is set for April 22, the budget will be adopted on May 6, and it will take effect on July 1.
