Shelley and Greg McArthur—owners of NTL Industries Inc.—were named the 2025 Michigan Small Business Persons of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
They will compete against winners from other states at National Small Business Week starting May 4, with the national award announced on May 5 in Washington, D.C.
Michigan's updated child car seat laws went into effect April 2nd, changing how long children must use rear facing and forward facing seats by adding an extra year and setting new limits on booster seats.
The rules require children under 4 to ride in the back seat—unless no back seat is available—and mandate seat belt use for children 8 to 15.
Starting May 7, TSA will enforce Real ID rules at Detroit Metro Airport—travelers with state IDs that do not show a star in the upper right corner may face longer security lines.
TSA advises using an alternate ID such as a U.S. passport or enhanced driver's license to avoid delays.
Hospice of Michigan is seeking volunteer sewers in Macomb and Oakland counties to create 8-inch Memory Bears that use clothing from loved ones to comfort grieving families.
The program, launched in 2014, welcomes volunteers of all skill levels and requires them to supply their own sewing machine—a step to help get involved.
