  • Today, gig worker Jaison Clark and car wash employee Rosalind (Rocky) Stewart work outdoors in frigid temperatures and biting wind in metro Detroit, taking extra precautions to stay safe while keeping deliveries moving and cars clean.  WXYZ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices statewide have increased by 15 cents per gallon since last week and local drivers in metro Detroit now pay $2.92 for regular unleaded—a 15-gallon fill costs about $44, which is $6 lower than last year’s peak.  WXYZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A severe blast of arctic air is expected today, and metro Detroit school districts have set a -20°F wind chill threshold for school closures. Families should check their local district policies as temperatures drop to lows in the low-to-mid single digits with possible lake effect snow showers.  WXYZ
