DTE Energy is installing smart devices across southeastern Michigan to reduce outages and keep people safe—these devices can shut off power when wires fall so no one is hurt. Crews will install more than 30 devices a week until the end of this year, with plans to have over 1,200 devices in place as part of a five-year plan to fully automate the grid by 2029.
